The Australian government is donating a locally built patrol vessel to the Maldives as part of efforts to support Indian Ocean regional security.
The Guardian-class platform will bolster the Maldives’ maritime surveillance and enforcement abilities, specifically targeting illegal activities within its large ocean territory.
Accompanied by a support package and a multi-beam echo sounder, the vessel will also assist the island nation in developing hydrographic capabilities to improve marine safety and navigation.
