The Netherlands has awarded Raytheon a $627-million contract to procure Patriot air and missile defense systems, reinforcing its national security infrastructure. This agreement builds upon a previous $529-million procurement completed in early 2025 and is aimed at replenishing capabilities following the donation of Patriot components to Ukraine. The new acquisition includes advanced radar systems, launchers, and command-and-control units, which will be operated by the Defence Ground-Based Air Defence Command. The Dutch government accelerated the procurement process to secure production capacity and avoid delays extending to 2033. Patriot systems have experienced increased global demand due to their proven effectiveness in modern conflict zones, particularly in Ukraine and the Middle East. Developed by Raytheon in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, the system integrates interceptor missiles and advanced targeting technologies into a comprehensive defense network capable of countering a wide range of aerial threats, including cruise and ballistic missiles.
