The United States Navy has released a long-term fleet expansion strategy focused on restoring maritime dominance through a combination of new ship procurement, industrial reform, and artificial intelligence-driven modernization. The “Golden Fleet” plan aims to grow the current fleet of 291 battle force ships to more than 450 vessels by the next decade through investments in nuclear submarines, advanced surface combatants, amphibious platforms, and robotic systems. The initiative also seeks foreign shipbuilding cooperation, stricter contractor oversight, and the integration of AI-enabled ShipOS software to streamline production schedules and maintenance planning across the navy’s shipbuilding enterprise.
