Thales and Systematic Partner on Danish Integrated Air DefenseThales and Systematic have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening integrated air-defense capabilities for Denmark. The cooperation combines Systematic’s command-and-control software with Thales’ air-defense technologies. The partnership includes potential integration with the SAMP/T NG air-defense system and is intended to improve coordination between different components of Denmark’s surface-based air-defense architecture.Rather than creating an entirely new weapon system, the companies are focusing on interoperability. The objective is to allow existing and future defense assets to exchange information and operate together more effectively. This approach could help Denmark connect sensors, command systems, launchers, and other air-defense components within a unified architecture. Greater interoperability could also support cooperation with NATO forces and allied command networks. The partnership will involve Denmark’s Acquisition and Logistics Organisation, which manages major defense procurement activities. It may also create opportunities for Danish companies to participate in the development, support, and potential export of related technologies. The agreement forms part of a wider expansion of Denmark’s defense-industrial relationships. Copenhagen has been increasing cooperation with international companies across areas including air defense, counter-drone technology, naval systems, and weapons.Earlier cooperation between DroneShield and Terma focused on interoperable counter-UAS capabilities, while Navantia has proposed a long-term partnership supporting Denmark’s future naval requirements. These developments demonstrate Denmark’s broader focus on improving defense readiness while strengthening domestic industrial participation. Integrated command-and-control capabilities will be particularly important as European militaries seek to connect multiple air-defense systems and respond to increasingly complex aerial threats.
