Saab has received a new contract from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to supply an additional 22 CB90 Next Generation (NG) combat boats, reinforcing Sweden’s naval operational readiness. The agreement is valued at approximately SEK 900 million.
The CB90 NG vessels will be produced at Saab’s Docksta shipyard, known for its expertise in building high-speed, lightweight craft. Constructed entirely from aluminium, the CB90 NG is designed to perform rapid troop and cargo transportation missions in both shallow coastal waters and open sea environments.
The vessel’s design ensures enhanced protection through ballistic-resistant safety glass and lightweight polyethylene CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) lining, offering increased survivability for onboard personnel. With superior speed and manoeuvrability, the CB90 NG enhances Sweden’s amphibious and coastal defence capabilities.
Saab’s Head of Business Area Kockums, Mats Wicksell, expressed pride in the order, stating it represents a “major reinforcement” to Sweden’s naval forces and highlights the continued trust in Saab’s maritime technologies.
