The Royal Australian Air Force has inducted the Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band (NGJ-MB), developed by Raytheon in collaboration with the US Navy. Designed to replace the legacy AN/ALQ-99 system, NGJ-MB features a modular open architecture, active electronically scanned arrays, and a fully digital backend for adaptive electronic attack. Integrated into the Boeing EA-18G Growler, it enables suppression of enemy air defenses by disrupting radar and communication systems. The system achieved initial operational capability in 2024 and forms part of a broader NGJ family across multiple frequency bands. → This significantly enhances survivability, spectrum dominance, and future upgrade flexibility in contested electromagnetic environments.
