Argentina has taken delivery of another six F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft from Denmark under a $300-million contract signed in 2024. The second batch consists of four single-seat F-16AMs and two twin-seat F-16BMs. All six aircraft arrived at the Río Cuarto Air Materiel Area in Córdoba after completing a 7,000-mile (11,265-kilometer) transatlantic journey supported by three US Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker tankers.Argentine Defense Minister Carlos Presti attended the arrival ceremony and said the aircraft would help restore operational air-defense capabilities lost after the country retired its Mirage fighters in 2015. With this delivery, Argentina’s F-16 inventory has reached 12 aircraft, representing half of the 24 fighters included in the government-to-government agreement as Denmark moves to the F-35.The first six aircraft arrived in December 2025, while the remaining 12 are expected by 2027. Argentine media have estimated the overall program at up to $900 million, including weapons, aircrew preparation and airbase improvements. The newly delivered aircraft will remain temporarily at Río Cuarto while modernization work is completed at their future home with the Air Force’s 6th Air Brigade in Tandil.
