Israel’s F-35 fleet is gaining a new strike capability through Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ integration of the SPICE 1000 air-to-surface weapon. The munition is equipped with an electro-optical seeker and is capable of attacking fixed and high-value targets at distances exceeding 120 kilometres. SPICE 1000 uses scene-matching algorithms to recognise the target area and guide the weapon toward a predetermined aim point. This navigation method reduces dependence on GPS and provides an additional precision-strike option for the F-35.
