BAE Systems has received a contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture and supply electronic warfare suites for F-35 Lightning II aircraft in Lots 20–22. The financial value was not disclosed. The agreement covers the AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare system and includes equipment for retrofitting and modernising older aircraft, improving their situational awareness and self-protection capabilities. The system combines passive long-range sensing with software that supports rapid updates. Its advanced algorithms, instantaneous bandwidth and high-speed signal processing allow F-35 aircraft to detect and respond to threats quickly. BAE Systems has delivered more than 1,500 electronic warfare systems for the aircraft. Dolan said the company was “laser-focused on scaling production and delivering software-based capabilities to meet the rapid pace of conflict.” Automation, updated system designs, a robust supply chain and facility investments are being used to increase production. Design and manufacturing activities take place in Austin, Texas, and in Manchester, Merrimack and Nashua, New Hampshire.
