The US Navy has placed a major production order with Northrop Grumman for three additional E-2D Advanced Hawkeye Block II airborne early warning aircraft, further expanding its carrier-based surveillance and command capabilities. The aircraft combine long-range radar surveillance, airborne battle management, network-centric command and control, and integrated sensor coordination to provide comprehensive situational awareness during maritime operations. The upgraded Block II configuration introduces improved processing architecture, expanded computing resources, advanced software capabilities, and enhanced networking infrastructure designed to accommodate future mission systems and sensor technologies. The procurement forms part of the Navy’s ongoing modernization strategy aimed at strengthening carrier strike group effectiveness, improving threat detection, and ensuring seamless coordination across naval, air, and joint operational environments.
