BrahMos Aerospace, in partnership with Russia, is re-evaluating the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile following feedback highlighting its steep development and unit costs. Originally based on Russia’s 3M22 Zircon and aimed at reaching speeds of Mach 6 with a range of 800–900 km, the missile was intended for conventional use only. However, due to cost-related concerns, both countries are working to revise the missile’s specifications and pricing to make it more appealing to potential buyers and operational users in the Indian Armed Forces.
