Lockheed Martin has announced a $300 million investment to expand its missile manufacturing facility in Grand Prairie, Texas. The development will increase the site’s total footprint to approximately 735,000 square feet, including around 100,000 square feet of additional space and the conversion of administrative areas into production facilities. The upgraded site will incorporate high-precision machining, automation and digital manufacturing technologies. Its production portfolio supports several major defence programmes, including the Patriot PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptor, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, the Precision Strike Missile and the Joint Advanced Tactical Missile. As part of the expansion, California-based manufacturing company Hadrian will install an automated cell comprising 24 machines, which will be operated by Lockheed Martin personnel. Operations are scheduled to begin in early 2027. The project forms part of Lockheed Martin’s wider plan to invest up to $9 billion in modernising more than 20 US facilities by the end of the decade. The broader initiative is intended to increase munitions production capacity while supporting approximately 6,000 jobs nationwide.
