Kuwait Awards MARSS $490.5M Contract for Integrated Air Defense System — Kuwait has agreed to purchase an air defense system valued at £370 million, or approximately $490.5 million, from British defense technology company MARSS to counter incursions by unmanned aerial systems. The project will connect electro-optical, radar, and sonar sensors to the company’s NiDAR platform, an artificial intelligence-enabled command-and-control system designed to combine tracking information, assess threats across air and maritime domains, and improve response times. The system will provide layered defensive options, including electronic jamming for soft-kill engagements and interceptors for hard-kill responses. The UK said the agreement builds on broader regional defense efforts under Task Force Sabre, which coordinates weapons and equipment distribution to Gulf partners amid Iranian missile and drone attacks during the wider Middle East conflict involving the United States and Israel. The project is also expected to support around 100 engineering and manufacturing jobs at MARSS’ Bristol facility and throughout its UK supply chain.
