L3Harris Secures $250M Deal to Boost GMLRS Rocket Production — L3Harris has won a $250 million contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture a record number of propulsion units for standard-range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System rockets. Production will take place at the company’s 60,000-square-foot Arsenal of Freedom facility in Camden, Arkansas, which is scheduled to open later in 2026 and will use robotics and automation to improve solid rocket motor manufacturing. L3Harris has supplied GMLRS propulsion units for decades and has doubled output in recent years to meet rising demand. The company also manufactures the rocket’s electronic safe-and-arm device and proximity sensor. GMLRS is a precision-guided munition launched by the M142 HIMARS and M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System, with Lockheed Martin targeting annual production of 14,000 rockets to meet US and international requirements. In December 2025, L3Harris received a contract worth up to $200 million for propulsion units for the GMLRS Insensitive Munition variant. Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics had also announced a partnership in August 2024 to establish another source of solid rocket motors for the program.
