Asio Technologies has completed the development of an advanced version of its Taurus battle management system, designed specifically for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Known within the IDF as Noam, the upgraded tactical intelligence platform enhances the military’s ability to access real-time battlefield data and 3D terrain visualization, providing an improved situational picture for field commanders.

Developed in partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Defense Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) and the IDF Intelligence Directorate, the new Taurus system is set to be deployed across hundreds of battalion-level intelligence units. The platform’s design focuses on speed and autonomy, enabling units to operate effectively without depending on central command hubs.

The Taurus system integrates data streams from drones, sensors, and reconnaissance sources, allowing commanders to plan and execute missions with greater accuracy. It can generate real-time mission plans, conduct terrain analysis, and synchronize updates with multiple Orion mission-management systems, ensuring every unit—from squad to brigade—shares a common operational picture on the battlefield.

The IDF’s adoption of the new Taurus system reflects Israel’s expanding shift toward network-centric warfare—a doctrine that connects every combat element through shared intelligence, communications, and mapping networks. In support of this strategy, the IDF awarded Elbit Systems a $130 million contract in 2024 to supply next-generation tactical communication systems, reinforcing data connectivity across its ground forces.

Alongside these upgrades, the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate has introduced mobile command centers and secure communication nodes to sustain battlefield connectivity even in GPS-denied or jammed environments. The IDF is also incorporating augmented reality technologies for infantry and armored divisions, projecting digital maps and sensor data onto helmet-mounted displays to enhance urban warfare situational awareness.
