France will supply Ukraine with a replacement radar for its SAMP/T air defense system while an existing unit undergoes repairs. The move ensures continuity in Kyiv’s air defense coverage amid persistent aerial threats. French officials confirmed coordination with MBDA to restore the damaged radar while providing an interim solution. MBDA has significantly expanded missile output between 2024 and 2025 to sustain systems like the SAMP/T. President Emmanuel Macron has also signaled the possibility of further SAMP/T deployments by 2026. Developed by Eurosam (MBDA and Thales), the SAMP/T uses Aster 30 missiles to intercept aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats. Italy and France remain primary operators, with next-generation variants entering service in 2026.
