Lockheed Martin has received a $74.2-million US Navy contract to integrate UK- and Italy-specific weapon systems into the F-35A and F-35B under the Block 4 modernization program. The effort includes full development, testing, and integration of advanced European weapons while also developing a common tactical data recorder for all F-35 variants. The modernization supports compatibility with systems such as the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range missile and SPEAR 3 precision strike weapon, enhancing multinational interoperability and expanding the combat capabilities of European F-35 operators through 2032.
