Russia has reportedly outlined a broad package of advanced air-launched weapons and unmanned systems that could accompany a future Indian purchase of the Su-57 stealth fighter. The proposal goes beyond the aircraft itself and is described as a wider combat ecosystem designed around the Su-57’s low-observable characteristics and internal weapons bays.
Unlike many fourth-generation fighters, including the Su-30MKI, the Su-57 was designed to carry important weapons internally. This helps preserve a lower radar signature during combat. Russia has therefore developed compact munitions intended for internal carriage.
The reported package includes the Kh-69 stealth cruise missile, designed for land attack and suppression of enemy air defenses. Its folding-wing configuration allows internal storage, while its reported export range is about 290 kilometers. The missile combines inertial navigation with electro-optical and imaging-infrared guidance.
Russia is also offering the R-77M, an advanced beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile intended for frontline fighters. Its low-profile control surfaces support internal carriage. The missile is reported to use an AESA seeker and dual-pulse rocket motor, with an estimated range of 160 to 200 kilometers.
The R-37M adds a long-range air-to-air capability. It is intended to engage high-value airborne targets such as early-warning aircraft, tankers and intelligence platforms. The missile is reported to reach up to 400 kilometers and travel at speeds approaching Mach 6. Russia is also emphasizing its integration with the Su-57’s Sh121 multifunctional electronic system.
Another reported element is a smaller version of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missile. The standard Kinzhal is too large for the Su-57’s internal bays, so Russian designers are reportedly considering a compact variant. Details remain limited, but the concept is associated with speeds approaching Mach 10 and a possible range of up to 2,000 kilometers.
The package also reportedly includes the S-71K, a low-observable strike system combining features of a cruise missile and an unmanned aircraft. It is described as using radar-absorbing materials, carrying a 250-kilogram warhead and having a range of about 300 kilometers. Its data link can support autonomous operation or pilot control.
Beyond missiles, Russia is promoting the S-70 Okhotnik-B stealth unmanned combat aircraft as a companion to the Su-57. The heavy drone is intended for reconnaissance, electronic warfare and strike missions. A reported twin-seat Su-57D concept could potentially coordinate several Okhotnik drones.
Overall, the reported proposal presents the Su-57 as the centre of an integrated combat ecosystem. By combining stealth-compatible weapons, long-range missiles, hypersonic strike concepts and unmanned wingmen, Russia is promoting a broader fifth-generation warfare capability rather than a fighter aircraft alone.
