The Tokyo Fire Department has awarded a contract to Airbus Helicopters for a new Airbus H225 helicopter, marking a key step in its ongoing fleet modernization. This new aircraft will replace an older model, reinforcing the department’s dedication to maintaining high readiness for critical operations such as firefighting, search and rescue, emergency medical services, and disaster response. The H225’s advanced capabilities allow it to perform urgent lifesaving missions with speed and precision.

Equipped with a dedicated search and rescue mode, the H225 can quickly locate targets, while onboard emergency stretchers facilitate immediate medical treatment during transport. Additionally, a belly-mounted water tank enhances its aerial firefighting capabilities, enabling swift and effective responses to fires. Across Japan, the H225 is already a proven asset, with 24 helicopters operated by the Ministry of Defence and other government agencies, supporting diverse missions that include rescue, firefighting, VIP transport, and personnel movement.
