The US has approved a $3.16-billion defense package for Australia, including up to 450 AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missiles. This marks a significant move as the missile is still under development, making Australia a potential first international operator. The deal also includes testing systems, support equipment, and secure communication components. Designed to outperform the AIM-120, the AIM-260 will enhance long-range air combat capability and is expected to be delivered starting in 2033.
